Ruby is a wee bit of a thing. She is our "little black cat".
We so missed our old Sierra, and really missed having a cat in the house.
The local SPCA knew just what kind of cat we were looking for, and in October 2011 we got the call that they had just the little one for us. She was only about 7 weeks old when we picked her up.
Brayden had the honour of naming her, and he chose "Ruby" after one of his favorite program characters "Max and Ruby".
Ruby is awesome with people, absolutely loving to interract with them. She wasn't so sure of the dogs, so we introduced them slowly. First, the 3 - 14 year olds, they really don't care. then the mid aged dogs, except tigger, and finally the youngsters. She is great with them all, but we still have NOT let tigger too close as she has decided she does NOT like him. That strong herding eye of his just annoys her too much. As she gets older, she will get used to it, but we just ensure she doesn't have to put up with it right in her face.
So, now Ruby takes over where Sierra left off . . . with a trail of border collies in her small wake, the "little ruby peep" to a flock of border collies. |
