Standsure Border Collies
Knight

Standsure's Black Knight

We have a secret you and I,
That no one else shall know,
For who but I can see you lie,
Each night, in fire glow?
And who but I can reach my hand
Before I go to bed,
And feel the living warmth of you
And touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths,
And see, ahead of me,
Your small form racing with the wind,
So young again, and free!
And only I can see you swim
In every brook I pass.
And, when I call, no one but I
Can see the bending grass.

Knight was a real gentleman. He was a handsome, classically marked tri color male standing 21 1/4" at his withers.

Here is Knight, in Raynie's words (written many years ago)

"This letter (writing about Knight) has been a long time coming. Something I have given great thought to. To be able to sum him up on paper will never do him justice, except to give those who have never met him - a distant look at a wonderful dog.

When I first got Knight, he showed me another way of learning to understand dogs. To this day, I still don't believe his psyche is because he's a Border Collie . . . he is who he is. He has become a best friend, tireless monster hunter and pillow to my three year old daughter, Alysha. The bond between these two is something I remember having as a young child with my hero dog, Clancy.

As for me, his adoration is boundless. When I think we are becoming an invincible team, his gentle way of humbling me is always under the surface. To get mad is useless, we both sulk when things don't go our way and celebrate to the full when we get it right. He has far too many of my characteristics. He's a smart ass, a jokester, lover of people and dogs, get him mad and he sulks, although he never stays this way for too long . . . there are better things to do with the day.

To say Knight is just another fast Border Collie doesn't do him any justice. His attitude is far too diverse. I wanted a friend for the family first, and he takes this as his top priority. For him, the rest of fun is a bonus in living life."
