Spring is a strikingly marked, rich tri color lass. She
stands 19" at the withers and weighs 32lbs. Spring was the gal I kept to carry on the Standsure
prefix.
Her name suits her perfectly. She is the eternal
optimist, always taking a "glass half full" attitude on life. She is game for anything
anyone wants to teach her, and learns it way too quickly!! She is a living example of the
saying "once is a habit for a Border Collie".
Of all the dogs I have trained, I have definitely had the most
fun with her. She approaches all training with a humorous attitude, lacking the seriousness
that her mother had, and definitely adds her quirky edge to any given exercise. I find it very
interesting the way she never questions anything I ask her to do. Things like, going down a
slide, climbing a tree, climbing a ladder, whatever, she approaches with a definite I-think-I-can
attitude. It never occurs to her to be concerned or worried. She has a courageous,
adventurous spirit, which makes her, quite simply, one heck of a lot of fun!!
When Spring ran flyball (from which she is now retired)
she ran in the low 4's over 14" boards.
Spring shows true working style, and reads her sheep very
well. Her confidence in the sheep arena has grown in leaps and bounds, and if a sheep tries to
take her to task she has none of it!! She shows that sheep exactly where to go!! She
doesn't get to play sheep much anymore as her rear leg doesn't hold up for long.
On January 1, 2007, Spring suffered an FCE
that paralyzed her hind quarters for a short period of time. Bless her heart, in true fashion in
extreme pain and with her hind end paralyzed, her focus was to try to retrieve the holey roller to
me! Through rehab, Spring has regained 100% use of her rear left leg, but has retained residual
damage to her rear right leg. This certainly hasn't slowed her down any! She's playing as well
as ever.
Spring's outlook on life makes me smile all the time, even
just writing and thinking about her puts a big grin on my face. I am so blessed to have her in
my life.
